Covenant Relationship

What are some feelings we have, see or hear this time of year?
Compassion, greed, selfishness, stress, joy, glee, selflessness, anger, sadness, nostalgia.

So often we compromise the true meaning of Christmas (2 Samuel 23:3) by saying "Happy Holidays."

In Isaiah 53:1-12 we read the foretelling of Christ's coming. In verse 2, we see that he "had no beauty or majesty." This is so we wouldn't be distracted from the real reason He came. God desires a convenant of relationship with us. He took on our sin to have that relationship.

What is a "covenant?" - a promise, hand shake, a signature, to be "lawyered up" or to enter into a "gentleman's agreement."

In Genesis 12:1-7, God promises Abram that the He would watch out for him and that He would give him the land. And in Genesis 15, God promised that the Savior would be in Abram's lineage and that God would build a nation of descendents from a son of Abram's.

God wants fellowship, individual relationships with each of us. He was willing to send His Son to take on our sins just so we could have that relationship with Him and He us.

God wants us so much, He gave all He had. What are we giving to Him?
